Michele,
I grew puriras last year and tobascos this year, both are frutescens. The
fruits started out pale yellow growing upright. These had no heat and
little flavor. They then turn orange then red when ripe. Both are very hot
and flavorful. The tobascos are smaller than the puriras. Chileplants.com
says tobascos have a slight smokey flavor. To me that's hard to tell
because of the heat, but they are tasty, and hot.

Both plants spread out rather than grow tall, both are prolific. Blossoms
are white with green centers. Foliage is dark green. Hope this helps.
