[CH] "where there's smoke, there's work"

Peeps,
The line is from Firesign Theatre, but it applied to the day I had
yesterday.
My parents are out of town until the end of the month, so I've undertaken
the task of painting their kitchen. Since I had the place to myself for a
few hours yesterday, I brought over a mix of peppers and smoked them over
hickory and apple in their Weber.
I didn't smoke them dry this time; I want to experiment with processing them
as chipotles in sauce - sort of a paste. I may use some of them in a final
batch of salsa, possibly with some smoked onion and garlic.
I loved the way they made the kitchen smell of roasted peppers when I
brought them in. In fact, my shirt smelled like them, and so did my hair
... If I can capture that aroma and get it back from a jar this winter, I'll
be happy.
