Hey and welcome!
A good reference for hot sauces is the mo hotta mo betta catalog
(www.mohotta.com). Peppers has a good catalog as well - they list so many
ingredients in the descriptions that I sometimes use the catalog as a basis
for recipes(www.peppers.com).
As far as gardening - do you have any type of deck or porch? If so just
put out a nice big container and you can garden like you have a yard (one
plant per big pot). If you are limited to window sills, you may want to
stick to the smaller varieties like chile tepin. An amazing reference in
terms of plants (and she sells them) is Cross Country Nurseries
(www.chileplants.com). She has tons of information and pictures. There are
a number of seed suppliers here on the list if you want to start from seed
and can't find what you want locally.
Again welcome to the list! It is a great bunch of people with a wide
variety of knowledge and opinions. You will learn who to listen to and who
to roll your eyes at! ;^)

take care,
Suzanne
