With all this talk of membership cards, T-shirts and the like, I thought
ya'll would enjoy this. I have been involved in the consumption of the heat
since I first discovered it while living in Colorado in the early 80's.
Thing is, I never knew there was even such a term as Chile-Head for those
like us. Then, I was back in Boulder for a visit in the fall of 1999, when
I happend on a hot sauce store on that walking mall they have there. On the
wall was a T-shirt. Being of less than perfect eyesight I first thought it
was a Grateful Dead shirt. I was curious as to why a Dead shirt would be in
such a store. The clerk handed me this shirt. It was tie-die bright blue,
with a pic of the same skeleton figure, only surrounded by red chiles
instead of flowers, with the words CHILE HEAD. The clerk told me this was
term folks had adoped for heat consumers, etc. I plunked down the $30 and
bought the shirt. Has anyone else seen this T? Happy Heatster!
