People's pets shouldn't be allowed to roam in the city,
I agree100%.  But shooting them is needless, cruel and (in most places)
illegal.  And boasting about it is,
IMHO, kind of puerile.  Anyway, a plain old water hose works fine if
they're really causing problems as opposed to just annoying cat-haters.

As for shooting wild birds for eating cherries, that's
life, or more accurately, Life.  Cherries and other small fruits are many
birds' natural primary food; the ecosystem  has worked like that for
about as long as there've been birds and fruit.  You figure you can
change it by force?  For that matter, you figure you're supposed to?
  
Sure hope nobody shoots you for eating whatever it is 
_you_ eat.   And then brags about it in public.
