Thank you Curt and Susie...

Patti and I took off early yesterday morning for the Temecula Wine
and Balloon Festival, so we haven't had a chance until today to thank
Curt and Susie Snyder for hosting the Hotluck on Saturday, June 9th.
It takes real special people to invite a bunch of chile-heads into
their home for the day. I was finally able to put some faces and
email names together...besides the food, that is what makes Hotlucks
such a wonderful experience.

All the food was tasty...especially Marilyn's lemon bars with the
apricot and habanero filling. They were great, and that comes from
someone who isn't really a big fan of desserts.

I snacked on chips 'n dips and spicy nuts; then filled my plate with
a helping of everything (I hope) including layered bean dip, pasta,
and chile verde; filled a bowl with Susie's Thai soup...forget the
name, but I know it had ginger, lots of ginger; enjoyed it all as
I washed it down with Curt's Chipotle Ale (just enough heat to make
it interesting but not enough to grab you by the throat); and then
went back for desserts of habanero (I think) chocolate cake and the
habanero 'n apricot filled lemon bars. I look forward to seeing
recipes for all the tasty things I ate.

Oh...and, the blue color finally disappeared from my tongue sometime
during the day on Sunday while Patti and I tasted some of the really
excellent wines now being produced by the San Diego/Riverside County
wineries, especially Orfila in San Pasqual Valley...which, lucky us,
is only a 20 minute drive from our home in Poway.
