   As others have stated they should be fine.  My chiles survived
a major hail storm last year.  Yours sound like they took less
damage and will bounce back nicely.

   I prefer to grow my chiles inside tomato cages (the roud wire ones).
You can put them down over the plants at transplant time and they
keep them from blowing over during wet/windy weather.  For small
plants that haven't grown enough to engage the lowest rings I put
a few bamboo skewers, usually three, into the ground near the base
of the stem strategically placed to keep it from leaning.
