Can anyone shed some light on saving pepper plants for multiple years. I
heard it can be done. If I dig one out of the garden how large an area
do I dig from the stalk? How late in the season do I wait? Should they be
brought in before they get hit by frost?
Hi Rodney,
Over wintered a few plants for the first time last year. All I did was
figure
diameter of five gallon pail around plant and dig deep enough to fill pail.
All
went well, they'll look a bit sad by spring but will perk right back up
after you
plant back in well fertilized soil. I waited until last possible day in Oct.
before
weatherman predicted extended frost period which included building heated
teepees over plant because of a couple of annoying frosts in Sept.
   Hope this helps,
    Paul
PS Don't forget to drill holes in bottom of bucket & line bottom with
gravel.
PS Again Next year grow a few in potting mix in 5 gal buckets/a lot lighter
to bring in & out when sun is shining!!!!
00PS Never saw a book on subject/read many articles & posts on other
peoples success & thought I'd give it a try.
