I have had some marvelous smoked paprika. It came to Yellowknife rather
circuitously. It was made in Hungary, sold retail in Slovenia, brought
to Canada by an Italian tourist and bartered for in Edmonton in exchange
for some mustard cranberry meat marinade.

Unfortunately it has long since been used up and I don't have the
container to see who the maker or exporter was. All I can remember is
that it came in a sealed plastic bag that was stuffed into a rough hemp
or jute bag with crudely inked emblems on it.

But yes, milder chilies can be smoked.

                                                Cheers,

                                                YK Jim

.. I managed to get a chile crop from muskeg.
