If space is tight, I would suggest something compact in growing habit, like
Super Chile. Or, remember how those puriras werre growing in the Fields?
Some of those plants stayed pretty small but yielded a lot.
My suggestion for the back lot - how about tomatillos? If they are like the
ones I grew, they will be there forever.
If you're the first to create a garden on that spot next to the building,
I'll bet you'll dig up a lot of construction debris like brick pieces. You
might want to set up a way to screen out the stones from the soil.
