This week, while sitting home sick with the flu, I got
surprised with 2 boxes - both with hot sauce in them.
First, thanks to Suzanne for sending me some Tabasco
Chipotle! You are too nice! Plus the Zapp's XXX Hot
Habanero chips were a nice addition. Thanks so much.

2nd - My DH's aunt was in St. Thomas in November and
finally remembered to send me something she bought
there - Grand Anse Pepper Sauce #5. She said it had a
sign above it (bought at Down Island Traders on St.
Thomas - I was there on my honeymoon but she didn't
know that) that said that it won a Habanero contest of
some kind. It came in #2.

Even though I have practically no tastebuds right now,
I decided to taste the 2 sauces. My DH brought me a
quart of chinese Hot & Sour Soup from a local place
(not hot nor sour - bad batch) so I thought I would
make it hot like it should be. I tried a drop of both,
in separate bites. Both were very good. The one from
St. Thomas was much hotter of course. Both excellent
in taste and heat.

So, thanks Suzanne. Thanks to my DH's Aunt Norma for
the hot sauce from the caribbean (the sauce itself is
actually made in West Indies but sold through Down
Island Traders (if you ever go to St. Thomas you must
go to Down Island Traders. A small shack of a place
with a great selection of herbs & spices and
now....hot sauces too, I guess.) I haven't been to St.
Thomas in 2-1/2 years so I have no idea how much
bigger it may have gotten.

The sauces have brightened up my week.
