Morning Miss Dewi, (or is it evening in the Netherlands when you read this?)
Before we go on to the tea stuff, please E-mail me directly when you read
this, I'll be looking for your E-mail tomorrow morning (my time in USA).
Without looking it up, Chamomile is a herb that produces a tea with some
mineral (copper, tin, or some other ((Platinum?)) ) that kills some molds,
"damping off" being one of them. I only "top water" with it & have not lost
a seedling for the last 3 years. I grow peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, summer
& winter squash, flowers & herbs from seed & since I started using "the tea"
I have had no losses to diseases. Recipe is:
2 Chamomile tea bags
Brew as you normally would in 2 cups (1/2 L) water
Mix brewed tea with 1 gal. water (3 & 3/4L)
Fill sprayer of your choice with diluted tea
"Spray" mixture on seedlings during watering
The white mold on peat pots has been totally harmless to my growing of
seedlings. As I wrote on another list, this has been the # 1 complaint of
people using peat pots for seed starting. I understand your dislike of it,
but I haven't lost a plant to it that I know of. The reason I like the pots
is because of my limited "lighting" capabilities after plants are growing. I
start seeds in Jiffy peat pellets, after second set of true leaves start, I
transplant seedling into bottom of peat pot. If plant seems to get a bit
"leggy" I cover plant to lowest leaf level with potting soil. If it gets
worse, cover to next leaf level. If it gets out of hand, put peat pot in a
milk carton & fill with soil less seed mixture to just under largest leaves.
Works for me.

PS I believe I already thanked you for seeds YOU sent but I need to say
THANKS! again. Just received seeds from Deb in TX in a swap & what did she
send? Yung Ko, Piment Ornamental & Lingua di Satana from your "private"
stash? She forwarded what was left after she took what she wanted, but your
handwriting on pkgs. is unmistakable.
PS2 On our weather discussion, has been snowing since 12:00 PM.
