I had a chile live for 3 years in a 10 inch pot. It
got a dose of Miracle Gro at transplant time, (approx.
1/4 the dosage listed on the package), and that's it.

I brought it inside over winter and it would lose a lot
of leaves, which I let collect in the pot. That probably
added some nutrients back. The potting mixture was one I
mixed on my own: 1/2 peat moss, 1/4 perlite, 1/4 vermiculite,
with a bit of topsoil mixed in as a binder.
