Hi Tony, How,s the gout..?

Interesting article in this issue, might be of interest to Tony and other Kiwis on the list.

Aparently there is a Program called Crop and food somewhere in Pukekohe that has sourced Chiles from Bolivia and Argentinaand has been
going since 1993 The contact names there were Jim Douglass and John Scheffer. One variety there seemed to be hardy to -4 Centigrade . I,ll
try to scan this and if you want a copy get back to me.

My Tepins are still fruiting even though the days are getting colder, I must have taken over 100 from the bush so far and still have another
150-200 left I,ll be planting some more inside about June to get an earlier start and then shifting them outside about October.
The Bush is still only about a foot tall and about 15 inches in Diameter, Planted on the Bank in full sunso thats where the other ones will go. I
have given some seed to several people around here and hope that they have luck growing them.
I have to admit that I got caught by a Red Habanero the other week, I havewn't eaten many Habs this year and ate one at a Tomato farm on
an empty stomach. by the time I got home I was in considerable discomfort. I went back there the next week and ate another one after a
decent breakfast (Fat and Cholesterol rich) Bacon and Eggs and the pain was less.
The Local Naturapath who has a Syndicated column in several newspapers has a recipe for a Chile insecticide that is supposed to control
Wireworms, Catepillars, Weevils, Blackfly, (Not Canadian) Aphids and leaf suckers made by boiling 1 litre(Qt) for the metrically impaired, with 3
chopped chiles half a sliced onion and 1 clove of chopped Garlic, personally I think the latter 2 ingredients probably do more than the Chile.
He also make claims that we can keep cats and dogs from digging in gardens and staking territorial claims, I think that some of us would beg
to differ with him on that assumption.
