Yesterday I checked out a new Big Lots store. I restrained myself from
getting another tin of Tabasco SPAM, but I did get a jar of "paprika" paste
from Tukas in Turkey. Their website doesn't mention this product, although
they do have such things as pine honey, grean peace, and a kids products
line - with this description:

Tukaž' "Creamato" spreadable tomatoes cream, "Minitu" sweet pickles and now
new ketchup for kids that are sweetened naturally with honey is presented to
the likings of our young customers. Especially the taste and structure of
the kid products that are reflecting the contemporary approach of Tukaž has
difference than products for adults. The reason is that the taste of the
kids are not developed as of the adults. These products, result of long R&D
studies, are tasty, appetizing and nutritious products. Tukaž kids ketchup
contains no preservatives and additives. The comics character, which is
named "Lion Tuki and used on the package will make the product to be liked
by the kids and Tukaž will continue to satisfy its future customers with
lots of products for kids that have been or will be developed.

(OK, folks, go out there and develop those kids!)

As for the paprika, its ingredients are hot red pepper, tomato paste,
salt, acidity regulator (citric acid) preservative (sodium benzoate),
antioxidant (ascorbic acid).

The flavor is not very hot, a bit of a delayed burn, but surprisingly sweet,
like a very ripe red pepper. Worth the $1.49 price.

Here is their web address. Every time I hit a page, I kept getting messages
saying I needed to download a Turkish character set.

(Still no word on just why Constantinople _did_ get the works.)
