>I was hoping to get to Bowers by 1:30 today but we >ended up getting to the farm - Meadow View Farm - at >1:45. We decided to stay there and go in the farmers >market for awhile. I got my powders and then we waited >an extraordinarily long time for the horse ride to the >festival itself. >RisaG Seems like I always miss Risa at these things. I got to Meadow View about 9:45 and started picking peppers. James had a great crop of anchos/poblanos, and I picked plenty to roast and freeze. Then I filled little sandwich bags with all kinds of chiles I haven't tried before. We headed into the stand and tasted the goodies there before riding the wagon over to the festival. The festival was crowded, more people than I have seen there before. My wife, sister and I had a great time but eventually wore out our tastebuds. We got to see Karen, Mark, Andy and Doug. I didn't see Chip. Highlights for us were: 1. The fresh tropical fruit salsa, sold by one of the farms. It was wonderful "as-is", but even better served on theose tuna steaks we made at home. 2. Grumpy's Jambalaya, kettle cooked, delicious! 3. Alma Weaver's hot pepper bread, just finished the last slice for breakfast today. 4. The performer/announcer for the music. He sang a rendition of "Johnny be Good" called "Jakey be Good", about a farmer who started growing chile peppers in Pennsylvania and sang it with a PA Dutch accent. I laughed so hard I hurt. "Grow, grow, Jakey, grow, grow!" We hopped a ride back to the farm about 1:30, so must have passed Risa in the lot! We stopped a Renningers Market for corn and peaches before heading home.
