Finally started the chile harvest on Sept 1. Only 6 weeks behind 'normal' :-) This is the WORST growing season I've ever seen here in over 40 years of growing them. Oh well, if it was easy everybody'd do it :-) After 72 hours at the firehouse (Sat, Sun & Tues) I'm headed down to Houston for the Houston Hot Sauce Festival. I'll be arriving (hopefully) very early AM on Thursday. I'd be happy to meet any and all Houston area chileheads for lunch that day. You listening Chef John? I'll be staying out on the extreme west side of town & have a lot to do that afternoon so I'd prefer something out that way. It'd be nice if it was easy to get to as well :-) I'll be tired & grouchy after an all-night drive following working 24 hours, but if anyone is willing to put up with me, I'm buying :-) John Hard (CaJohns), Wendell Peters (Judicial Flavors), Chuck Evans (Hot Sauce Bible), myself and a couple of other chileheads are all due to appear on the Houston AM morning show on Friday- live. That's all the more details I have. -Jim C Mild to Wild(R)
