It seems that over the last year, a few bbq joints have opened up around me and happy am I! After all the bbq I had on the road trip this summer, I couldn't get enough of bbq. Hog Hollow, on Rte 57 near Stryker Road (I think this is in either Franklin or Broadway), opened awhile ago but I never got there. Yesterday, I finally did. Steve & I went there for lunch and it was terrific. The pulled pork came either on a kaiser bun or something like it, or on a platter with 2 sides. We had it with 2 sides - I had baked beans and Tennessee Spicy Slaw and Steve had baked beans and regular slaw. The spicy slaw was not that spicy. The owner told me that she puts some cayenne based hot sauce in it. It was good though. She also showed me the collection of hot sauces they have - 3 of them and a few bbq sauces that were on a shelf she couldn't reach. We tried all of them. The best was the Jack Daniels habanero sauce. Had lots of flavor and some heat. The one with the least had XXX on it. The one that was the hottest said "this is the hottest sauce in the world" or something like that on it and it had a skull hanging from it. Wasn't from Blair's though. It was very hot and did not have any flavor at all. They also make their own bbq sauce there, and sell it canned if you like it enough. The owners were very nice. The food was very good and the prices were ok. It was $7.00 for a sandwich and 2 sides. The other bbq joints are Broadway BBQ which is about 1 mile from Hog Hollow and they are opening another Broadway BBQ in Washington, off Rte 31. Wanted to let other New Jerseyites, and Warren County folk know that these places exist. I intend to try Broadway BBQ soon. Looks very good too. All I know is the smell that comes from Hog Hollow is amazing - like mesquite, I think. It could've been hickory though. Just yummy. RisaG __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
