Well, the 7th (Almost) Midwest Hot Luck has gone down in history as another grand event! We met today at the home of Big Tom and Cindy Price, who were gracious and generous hosts. Jim Campbell had sent a delicious selection of his products (speaking of generous people) and they were enjoyed by one and all! The Red Savina Garlic Sauce was a special hit, being put on pieces of grilled steak and causing major lip smacking!! We were pleased to see Scott and Chery Parkhurst from KCK, Renee Watson and friend, Diane, from Minneapolis, and two friends of Tom and Cindy who stopped by for a brief visit to see what all the hotluck excitement was about. That group plus the Prices, Gregg and I ate our way through a very interesting spread. It was a great day with a small but enthusiastic group of people eating lots and lots of great food. Scott KCK had the great idea of putting a toothpick into a bottle of Beyond Insanity sauce, then sticking the pick into an innocent barbequed meatball. Sure heated things up quickly! There was also a tasty selection of moderate food that the fire eaters doused with hot sauces but the rest of us enjoyed as is. Tom and Cindy sent us all home with quart jars of homemade salsa and T-shirts with the famous grinning chile pepper that graces the ID cards Tom is famous for making. All in all, it was a beautiful fall afternoon in the Midwest and the company of good people with similar tastes puts the icing on the chocolate-cherry, hab cake! Next year, it's Minnesota's turn to host...can't wait! SandyO CH #1146 and Grand Poobah of the Moderate Corps. (I did enjoy a hot meatball and some potato chips that were so hot it's a wonder the bag didn't melt!)
