I am equally blessed in raising my alpacas. Though we do age the stuff, we
can put their pellets directly into a bed, though I don't put it in veggie
gardens until it's aged a bit, not because I'm worrying about burning the
soil (I'm not) but because the risk of e. coli on leaf lettuces, etc is
greater. This probably wouldn't effect peppers and tomatoes though, as the
fruit aren't in direct contact with the soil.
I wonder if the fact that droppings/pellets got through three stomachs has
something to do with the fact that it doesn't burn the soil? Both alpacas
and sheep are ruminants...
hmmm. well this doesn't explain cow droppings though.
