If they have the room and growing conditions for cinnamon, nutmeg,
and lemon, all of which become large trees (and most varieties of banana plants
grow quite tall, too), then you definitely shouldn't need to restrict
yourself to ornamental but could put in some of the best chiles, e.g.
fatalii (C. chinense)
aji amarillo (C. baccatum var baccatum)
serrano (C. annuum)
and maybe you'd even have space for a rocoto (C. pubescens) to twine up
amongst the trees.
