This was tonight's dinner. The chiles are in the salsa (I made a tomatillo salsa and used it as a topping). Also, there was chile in the Penzey's barbecue seasoning (Barbecue of America is the name of it). If you don't have that seasoning, then use ground chile. This is the recipe: * Exported from MasterCook * Crockpot Sloppy Joes Recipe By : adapted from Betty Crocker Slow Cooker #208, May 04 Serving Size : 12 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Main Dish Poultry Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/2 lb ground turkey -- leanest possible 1/2 onion -- coarsely chopped 1 ts Penzey's Barbecue Seasoning** 1 stalk celery -- chopped 1/2 cup Carb Options Barbecue Sauce -- * see note 1/2 26 oz can Manwich 12 kaiser rolls (without poppy seeds) -- split Toppings (optional): tomatillo salsa monterey jack cheese -- shredded Preheat a large skillet over MED heat. Brown the turkey meat along with the onions. Once the meat is fully cooked and browned well, sprinkle with some Penzey's Barbecue Seasoning. Sprinkle with a touch of salt too. Place it in the crockpot, along with the rest of the ingredients, except rolls and toppings. Place on LOW for 6 hours-8 hours. Stir well before serving. To serve: Fill each roll with about 1/3 of the meat mixture. It will hold on LOW for up to 2 hours; stir occasionally. Top with toppings if you wish. Close bun and eat!
