Yes, they are. And I also got seed from another reliable source. Plants and orange pods are identical. I'll bag some blossoms and send you seed to try next year. Perhaps you would send me some of your seed again too?

More Matt: Did the Mombasas ever germinate? The C. pubescens seeds you sent germinated
well, but very few pods....might just be too hot in Atlanta.

No, the Mombasas never did germinate even after a 2nd try. As to the C. pubescens... I'm glad that you got any pods at all. They just seem to be a two year project for most of us. And some of my 2nd year accessions aren't doing all that well either. Some of the 2nd year plants are absolutely staggering in the # of pods set this year. This winter I will be throwing out a lot of non-performers to make room for '05. And everone will get a haircut. No more 6' plants in my basement.

You sent me some really neat new varieties to try this year. Another one that I am especially pleased with is Aribibi Gusano. Very nice pod set am am just now getting ripe ones. Haven't taken pix of that one either.

Back to the Fatalii. Perhaps the color is dependant on temperature or soil chemistry? I'm thinking of how some flowers can produce pink or blue blooms depending on the pH. Just a WAG.
