I've recieved a number of replies from different folks so rather than try to write responses to all separately thought I would do a combined reply here. The bottom line is there is apparently no way to get the server to talk to my verizon account (at least from my end, admin maybe). So an alternative has been found (see bottom). Don't know if this will help anyone but below is all the stuff I've tried. At least it helps me blow off a little steam (and for this I apologize) but this is the kinda thing that just drives me nuts with frustration, must be the terrier in me. It's just like being unable to get a piece of software or hardware installed. Tomorrow I will go out to the garden on a bright, sunny, cool, blue skied day. Pick a whole mess of the prettiest Tepins, Piquins, DeArbols, Fatali's and various sorts of Habs. And once again, for a time, my soul will be at peace, and contentment will return. (well, as long as I can keep that dang juice from getting under my fingernails again, yow!) Followed by a nice round of that good ol' gustatory perspiration for lunch :-) >When you get the message telling you to send the reply to 'majordomo' IGNORE it. Send the reply back to he same 'request' address that your original note came from. I never receive this message. I've sent several commands to the listserver (chile-heads-request@globalgarden.com not majordomo altho I did try the majordomo) lists, help etc. and never gotten a response from the server of any kind. >Try the other addy and then when you get the authorization code email, reply the way it says to and you should get the "success" email in the next couple of days. I've never recieved the authorization code. I've tried sending the subscribe fiveqs@verizon.com from four different addys and got replies from the three non verizon ones saying the auth code message had been sent to the verizon addy but it never got there. tried different encoding schemes (uue, mime etc.) Tried sending notes to the listowner from all four addys and tried changing subject lines to get around spam filtering and never got a response over about two weeks. turned off all spam filtering at verizon and tried again. tried a different addy at verizon. Thought maybe there was some weird formatting with the addresses involved so tried typing everything in manually, and also tried cutting and pasting. All these communications were in plain text not rich text/html. Tried sending in old auth codes that were successful with old accounts with the verizon addy. Tried using the verizon web mail site as well as the earthlink site. And on and on and on...very frustrating, I can't even remember all the things I've tried, I did actually tho, go back to my sent box and count how many times I tried and it was 81 just from my home computer. HOWEVER!!! THE GOOD NEWS!!! I have been able to get a somewhat cheesey Yahoo mail account and after a few tries (their compose box cuts off the auth line (you have to have a space then / on the top line to get the command to succeed)) have gotten subscribed thru there. Kind of awkward and puts you at their whim but it works! Sooo... I will be able to get the CH mail, just not thru email. Man, I better quit before I break a lobe or something, all this thinking and writing :-) Take Care! God Bless!! PQ
