This week's trek to the stupormarkup found two new flavours of
Maruchan Instant Lunch on special offer. So, I figured "Wot th'
hey?!?!" and got one example of each.

I usually stock the Maruchan Instant Lunch Shrimp with "real" (freeze
dried itsy-bitsy (true) ) shrimps in with the noodles, veg and
flavour packet. I am in the practice of adding two flavour packets of
my own - the Orange "hot" (not really) packets from the Sign of the
Chihuahua. The Red "fire" (again, not really) packets have a bitter
undertone that I don't like - which I suspect comes from the
capsaicin extract they use to boost the heat. Anyway - the orange
packets add a bit of heat and some flavour to the otherwise rather
bland Ramen cup. Keep this in mind.

First try was Maruchan Instant Lunch Limon Flavor with Shrimp. I did
not add anything from the Sign of the Chihuahua to this as I wanted
to give it a fair shake.

Pretty good citrusy flavour. Noodles were a little mushy ... more
mushy than I usually expect from Maruchan. But, that may have been
in my prep more than the fault of the product. I generally nuke some
water to boiling, pour it into the cup, cover and let it sit until I
am ready to chow down. I cannot remember how long I let this languish
on the counter before I snarfed it down.

Conclusion: This is a keeper. Does not need help from Sign of the
Chihuahua juice. I will buy more next trip to the stupormarkup.

Next try was the Lime Chilli Flavor with Shrimp and a package
blurb which advertised "LIMON CHILE HABANERO FLAVOR". I read the list
of ingredients and habanero was waaaaay down the list. Not much bite
and any rotten apricot flavour was masked by the citrusy taste of the
lime powder also listed in the ingredients. There was some orange
discolouration of the styro cup which may have been from the
habanero - or more likely from the turmeric listed in the ingredients.

Conclusion: This is not hotter than my regular cup of noodles w/shrimp
and two packets from the Sign of the Chihuahua. The heat and the lime
flavours seem to be at war with one another. There was not enough bite
to loosen my sinuses even a minimal amount.

Overall: I will buy more the the Limon Flavour and leave the one
claiming a relationship with habanero on the shelf in favour of the
standard Noodles w/shrimp and two packs of sauce from the Sign of the
Chihuahua.
