[CH] OT? JumpDrive/ThumbDrive

This may be old news to some, but it is new news to me. At a meeting
tonight two people had little devices hanging on their auto
keychains. They were little portable "zip drives" that allow you to
transport computer data from one computer to another. They plug into
any USB port. You can delete info, or drag and drop copies of new
info. The little disk is encased in plastic, and the end that plugs
into the computer has a little plastic cover that protects it when
it's in your pocket but you can slip the cover off and plug it into
the computer without even taking it off your keychain.
They are available at Walmart (and I would presume at similar stores
like Target). The "Jump Drive" (stores 32 MB) costs about US$20; the
"Thumb Drive" (stores 64 MB) about US$30. It is an extremely
reasonably priced and convenient device for, say, schoolteachers who
want to prepare a presentation at home, copy it to their keychain
drive, take it to school the next day, and plug their keychain drive
into the school computer.
It is a brilliant concept for transporting data, and I can't wait to
get my own "Thumb Drive"! R.
