Escaped cold weather frost/freezing again last night. So happy! Some of my C. pubescens varieties are just starting to produce ripe pods. Such a heart breaking species at times! I'm still trying to figure out the various varieties as to light, pH, temp & fertilizer requirements. Took this picture a couple of hours ago. http://www.fototime.com/00034CE8665B9C9/orig.jpg The plants have all greened up nicely from the pale color that they tend to get during mid-summer heat. Most 2nd year C. pubs seem to be in the 6-8' height range and produce a ton of blossoms that may or may not set pods. And I think that the heat & flavor improve with plant age. JohnT
