I have had these same failures with trying to spice pecans....I learned
a secret this Christmas from a friend....toast the pecans first then add
the melted butter and seasoning and let drain on paper towels...worked
like a champ!

My first thought was to grind them up too but to use for some savory
appetizer-like things....like to roll a giant cheese ball in or cream in
with butter and/or cream cheese tanted a favorite hot sauce for a
spreadable.
