Pod Units,

Today I browsed the Giant Eagle grocery that's on my way home from work, and
saw a new line of products from the Tony Chachere people. There's a 17-oz
bottle of injectible marinade, and an injector shrink-wrapped to the bottle.

None of this would be particularly germane to the list except they had a
Butter and Jalapeno flavor *G* I haven't cooked with it yet (bought it less
than an hour ago) but a taste from the bottle is ... well ... kind of nasty
the way many brines and marinades are when tasted before cooking. But the
first three ingredients are water, salt, and jalapeno powder, and the next
is "red pepper and other spices". Looks like the fakery comes in the
absence of real butter, while the pepper itself is real.

The injector is nicer than I expected, with a metal needle. I'd argue that
it's worth the price of purchase by itself - that was $5.19 in my case.

And, if the product line fails, we can get them for pennies on the dollar at
Odd Lots! Woohoo!
