I haven't done a garden in a few years - my last attempt was while I was
living in Madison, WI. It ended in heartbreak when the first snow fell
and my babies were not even ripe yet.

I moved to Charleston, SC a year and a half ago and this spring I
decided to give it a try again. I bought a dozen seedlings from a local
nursery and got them in the ground on April 4. Ate my first chile
today, so I wanted to brag a bit :-) Here's what I have (one of each):

- Prarie Fire - this is what I picked today, and there are 2 more that
will be ready to pick in another day. It's the smallest plant but it
has lots and lots of chiles. The first bite didn't seem all that hot -
maybe jalapeno heat. But the next bite packed nice heat with a
long-lasting, full mouth burn.
- Purple Mayan - pretty purple chiles - one is orange and will be ripe
soon, with several more starting to turn orange.
- Black Prince - tons of cute, tiny, very dark purple chiles.
- Peruvian Rainbow
- Firecracker
- Birdseye
- Tepin Birdseye - very slow!!! Hasn't even put out buds yet.
- de Arbol - these are a bit fatter and shorter than normal de Arbols.
- New Mex Pinata - these look like large jalapenos.
- Charleston Hot
- Peter Pepper
- Pasilla

It was 98 here today (107 heat index), which I hate, but the chiles seem
to love it :-)
