Recipes like this intrigue me, so different from usual fare in our  
house.  It's on my list to try.

                              Hot Banana Soup

   12                    green bananas
   1              quart  beef stock -- (page 26)
   1             jigger  light rum
   2        tablespoons  vegetable oil
   1                     green onion -- finely chopped
   1                     Scotch Bonnet or jalapeno chile -- finely  
chopped
   1                cup  grated fresh coconut
                         croutons

Peel and mash bananas, then mix them with stock and pass mixture  
through a sieve into a medium bowl. Add rum. Heat oil in a large  
saucepan. Add green onion, chile and coconut; cook, stirring, until  
softened. Pour in strained banana-beef stock; cook over medium heat  
until bananas are tender, about 30 minutes. Serving piping hot with  
croutons. Makes 6 servings.
