Man....you sure saved me a pile of digging! Now Marie can continue to
tell me that I should clean up this mess, around the computer ! When he
first started growing the chiles he did it under glass and built a
greenhouse in his back yard. This started as a hobby, and the first
powder he offered on the CH list free, had the usual number of those who
ridiculed it as wimpy and then others who said they enjoyed it. And as
his business grew, he found that he required more and more powder, which
he simply could not grow, dry, grind, package and ship out. And still
run an oilpatch business as well. So, as Jim C told me a few years ago,
he was supplying Calvin with powder, in a larger quantity than Calvin
could produce, at the last. Then Calvin became ill, could not shake it
off, and then found that he was allergic to all of the nightshade
family! No more tomatoes, potatoes, tomatillas, and not even could he go
near chile peppers. And then he dropped from view! I am aware of the
reason for this, as he had told me what was going on. A very nice family
guy with 3 dtrs and a wife, very hard working, very religious, and lived
what he believed. Unfortunately, not all the world lives by that
premise. Marie and I wish he and his four gals all the best. Good for
you, Riley, keeping that there all these years! Doug in BC
