We are bringing in a couple this year, too. Here is what I do (keep in mind I usually do things the hard way). I wrap the pot and soil up tight in a plastic bag, then use the sprayer in the sink or bathtub to rinse off all the foliage, especially under the leaves. After the plant dries I put a little liquid dish and a little rubbing alcohol in some water in a spray bottle and spritz the plant down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don't have scales, so my method is slightly different.. I place the plant in the bathtub spray with 1 tbsp Octagon soap, 1 tbsp per gal of water. Let it sit for about 15 min. Then rinse the plant. Repeat every day for 3 days. Then look for bugs in about 7 days, every 7 days. When watering the plant, use the same mix every other time to reduce fungus gnats and cutworm. L.B.
