A couple more tips. 

Set transplants in pots,  use potting mix,  makes the pots lighter.

For the summer, dig a hole for the pot,  insert pot in the ground,  with 
the top of the pot an inch or two above the soil line,

This keeps the roots a little cooler,  and you won't need to water as 
often,  also keeps a few of the creepy crawlers out. 

Then when summer is done,  just pull the pot out of the ground and rinse 
it off,  this saves transplant shock.
