Turns out that there is a new chemical from Japan which has some
systemic properties. It's called Flonicamid and there might be others.
It's marketed in the US by FMC Corporation. The devil's in the details.

FMC markets it under three names. All three are listed as 50% Flonicamid
as the active ingredient and 50% inert ingredients. The inert
ingredients might be different in each or they might not.

Beleaf 50 SG is listed for aphids on peppers. Unfortunately it is only
approved for use in Arizona and Florida and is not approved for home
gardens or greenhouses. It is available in 1.5 lb packages.

Carbine 50 WG is listed for cotton. It is available in 3.5 lb packages.

Aria comes in .7 oz packets which sounds great. Unfortunately it's only
listed for use in greenhouses and only for ornamental (non food) plants.

Since use contrary to the label is a violation of federal law it looks
like this product is out of reach for the home gardener for the present.

This really could be a great product for control of virus carrying
aphids in areas like the Caribbean where peppers are grown as perennials
and usually stop production because of virus infections.

More than you probably wanted to know :-)
