Zeb,
  I love ajvar, but I have to admit to buying the commercially available product.  It's a great spread. 
  I live in Astoristan, Queens, NYC (Astoria, right across the East River from Manhattan).  The product was originally put in our local groceries by the Greeks.  But, with the recent influx of immigrants from the Middle East and the Balkans to Astoria, ajvar seems to be persistent and tasty very tasty product.
  Post a recipe!  It's great stuff, but hard to prepare at home!
