New Mexico was first settled by the Clovis culture of paleo-neolithic peoples (Folsom man) in 11, 500 bc, long before the native Americans made it to the east coast. It has been occupied by very large civilizations ever since. Various neo lithic cultures in the period 7000-1000 bc from which most of the arrowheads in New Mexico originated in southeastern and northeaster New Mexico. Since then various basket makers, the Chaco culture and then the Pueblos, Hopi, Zuni. The late comers are the Navajo, Apache, Kiowa, Utes, Commance, etc. In 1540 Coronado arrives and gave the navtive Americans horses in New Mexico; then various other expeditions, then Onate came and settled near the San Juan pueblo near Velarde. Later the Mormons with General Kearny at their head conquered New Mexico, Arizona and California and discovered gold at the mill they were building for Sutter in California. They were not allowed in Salt Lake without bringing money. Their wives and children were stuck in Pueblo, CO. So I laughed my head off when touring Salem, MA when they said, "this is the oldest standing church in the USof A." There are churches in New Mexico that were built before anyone stepped foot in Massachusetts. The french were here in 1531, the dutch in 1609 and the swedes in 1638. The Constitution of the United States was plagerized from the Iriquois Nation. But yet all I hear is "This is an English nation". And thats not counting the ship builders, fisherman and immigrants from Ireland, Portugal, Italy, Greece, etc. England no longer glorifies their empire, but we have some idiots----never mind, the U.S. propaganda we teach in our schools is amazing to me. Just remember if it had not been for the French and a German military man, the 13 colonies would have lost the revolution and the west would be Mexico. ----- Original Message ----- From: <chilehead@tough-love.com> To: "Alex Silbajoris" <asilbajo@hotmail.com> Cc: <chile-heads@globalgarden.com> Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2007 7:55 PM Subject: [CH] Re: OT: One of our 50 is missing > As long as I can find great Green Chile Cheeseburgers I'm pretty cool > here where the Spanish Conquisadors probably trampled my property long > before the English founded Jamestown VA.
