The recipes are probably older recipes. Cranberries used to be sold in a 1 pound bag but like many other things, the packages size shrank and the price went up. We buy several bags a year and freeze some. The extras come in handy for other cooking and cranberry muffins! I actually had about 4-6 ounces in a bag from last year and teamed them up with a bag from this year. Still have a whole bag left.
