Yup! Mike knows, and as far as I know, he is the only one who does. And
the Global Garden folks. However, they come and they go. They post and
they lurk! For an example, away back when, I was inventing recipes like
there was no tomorrow, and everything that was a big success went to C-H
list. Then Robert Lusk, who owns Pepper Fool, asked for permission to
post my recipes on his list. I had been back and forth with Rob a few
times prior to that, saw how his list was going, and gladly gave him my
permission. About the same time, he made the same request to Risa G and
Risa also told him to go ahead. So, when you go into
http://www.PepperFool.com you will find both our names there, with
recipes that we have devised, and along with many more that other C-H'rs
have posted. I have found my recipes all over the internet, one guy in
particular who has the Astray recipe list is the worst thief! He has
stolen recipes from Rob's list for years.
A word about recipes and who owns what. Unless a recipe is copyrighted
it is public domain, and may be freely used by anyone. A recipe, being
simply a collection of edible ingredients, and method of combining them
is simply a "road map" or way of getting them together in such a way
as to end up with a product pleasing to the palate. If ONE thing is
changed in a copyrighted recipe, it no longer belongs to the person who
devised it, but then is the fair game for everyone. Sadly, many times
the changes make a less than desirable product, but some will still post
a recipe that is lousy! We have done a few of those, which were posted
by someone or other stating this was the best recipe in the world! HAH!
Marie made a plum cobbler last week, which is so dry and tasteless that
it will end up leaving us, and of course will never be done again. I
have been dabbling in sourdough, developed a great starter, and have
made a few bricks using other folks recipes! Marie turned one of the
bricks into bread pudding!!
Enough of all this! Cheers, old Doug in BC
