Jeff,

Pretty sure I told you before. My x-ray instructor at Brooke Army Medical
Center used to x-ray flowers with an old portable 15 mA Picker that the Army
used to use during the 'brown boot' days. Used cardboard cassettes for
better detail than could get with intensifying screen cassettes. "Take in a
deep breath..." LOL His results were truly breathtaking.

I have a red-ripe rocoto from C-H Cameron Begg seeds that will send
tomorrow. I expect that many from the C-H list have grown this one. Also
have Aribibi Gusano pods & think they would be quite interesting. Went out
in garden area today for the first time in too many days and have a couple
others such as Rocoto Largo San Isidro (aka White Flowered Rocoto) that
might be hard to find.

jt (who knows where you are)

To any of you who grow your own peppers, and are planning on attending
Open Fields this year, I could use a little help.

Many of you may have seen the x-rays of peppers I did for last year's
Open Fields raffle. If not you can see a few examples here
(http://openfieldsonline.com/stepup/).

I am trying to obtain as many different pod types and shapes
(varieties) as possible so I can x-ray, CT scan, and otherwise abuse
them for the sake of science (and possible financial exploitation in
the form of a book or prints).

If anyone would be so kind as to bring a pepper or 2 with them to Open
Fields, especially of the the less common varieties, I will take them
in and see what I can see. They don't need to be ripe but they should
be fully formed so that their structure is basically complete. If it
looks like what you were expecting then it's far enough along. Also,
since I will not be able to do anything with them until I get back to
work on the Monday following OF, green pods will probably survive the
trip in better shape.

If you're not planning on making it to Open Fields but have a pepper
you'd really like to see an x-ray of, feel free to send me one.
Contact me off list for the shipping address.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jeff
