[CH] Chile vs. Chili

This was in today's Las Cruces newspaper: 

"Our state legislature says the peppers we eat should be spelled c-h-i-l-e. 
It's important that we loyal New Mexican citizens don't confuse the good red 
or green with that stewpot mess consumed by our neighbors to the east. The 
only problem is that ill-informed experts at the Associated Press won't let 
us put that in print. They fear that the public may confuse a Latin American 
country for what we eat here with rice and beans. No, really. So I have a 
seasonally appropriate greeting to send to the AP editors: "Happy 
Thanksgiving. Enjoy your turki.""
