Pods,

CaJohn has held this event for a few years but this is the first time I participated. They asked for volunteers, so I signed up for the morning shift.

CaJohn and his restaurant chef demonstrated a big elaborate Mexican breakfast.

I did a little bit of prep work, cutting up some manzanos

And I helped serve samples of the breakfast to the audience. Later, there waas a wing sauce contest, and I volunteered to be a judge. We would get a little taster sample of the sauce by itself, and one wing tossed in the sauce.

We got a score card to fill out based on some evaluation criteria. We moved through the samples quckly so it was hard to fully evaluate the heat profiles. One was sweet and smoky, one was Asian with soy and sesame, one was cheese-based like something for nachos, and extremely salty. Sweet and smoky was the winner. The judges were sweating by the end.

John and I were talking later, and there's a chance I may participate in a grilling-centered event there in May. I could bring my meat grinder and show how to make breakfast sausage and hamburgers.
