[CH] Waiting for the Finger

Pods,
You know how, in a cartoon, some finger of aroma will waft under a character's nose?
I'm waiting for the can of chipotles to do that. I started a crockpot full of dried brown beans, water, a can of El Pato sauce, and a can of San Marcos chipotles (left whole, why stain a cutting board?) - stir.
Now I'm in the next room, waiting for that first moment I get a whiff of the chipotle. I look forward to having the whole house smell like them soon. Later I'll add cumin and garlic and oregano.
It's snowing on the daffodils here, good weather to have a pot of soup going. Maybe I'll get some smoked ham hocks, or else some chunks of lamb from the halal grocer. Hmmm, lamb and chick peas....
