Which Jim?  "Spooky" or "Saint"? :-)

Letting them thirst to wilt will work for the smaller kinds (Tepin,  
Tabascos, Pequin, etc) but doesn't work so well for the larger ones  
like big Jim, Anaheim, Aconcagua, Poblano, etc.  In my experience,  
wilting large ones usually leads to blossom end rot.  Have a mind to  
what you're growing.

Chet's right about the egg shells (calcium) and fish emulsion  
fertilizers- these help quite a bit also, but you'd better be remote  
from any open window of the house :-)
