No drought here, we set a record for April rainfall and the ground is far too wet to till. Judging by the radar images over the last few months, western Kentucky and Tennessee have been hit far worse.

OT - we have a hackberry, too; it's old and huge. I installed a "downspout disconnect" (google that) and now half of this house's roof runoff is delivered to the foot of this thirsty tree, instead of to the curb. It really does set berries which last into the winter, when the robins and grackles clean it out. We get bird-distributed volunteers from seeds, but we also get sprouts coming up from the spreading roots of the tree.
