[CH] And then there was green

Overnight, pepper sprouts emerged in five pots. One large pot has several Super Chile starts, and they'll probably stay in that pot for the season. The other four are three-cell seedling pots with various reds.

It'll be sunny and 74 today, so they're going out to harden on Day One. I've regretted starting them so late, but this way I don't have problems with leggy weak seedlings under weak indoor light.

And I let my self-control slip, buying a few pepper plants even before the garden is tilled. I got a poblano, a "Zavory" which is marked as a mild habanero, and red and yellow bells. I'm still not 100% certain we've had our last frost, but even if that risk is gone, the soil is still too wet and too cold.

In other news, this year the whiskey barrel on the patio will have vegetables instead of flowers, sort of the "pizza garden" idea with peppers around a central tomato plant. It's in a full-sun location at the foot of a white stucco wall so it's far warmer than the gardens. Here we go!
