I recently read where a bee sting leaves behind a pheremone which attracts other
nearby bees and incites them to attack.  Safety in numbers, I guess.  All bees
are programmed to attack and defend if threatened.  Africanized or not, if you
upset a swarm or hive (which lawn mowing might do [ I don't like the sound of it
on an early Sunday morning]), the bees will be agressive.
