Judging by what's missing from the recipe, and the amount indicated, I would
guess that it's a typo, and what was actually meany is 'cavolo', which is a
generic italian word for cabbage, and which most italian minestre contain in
the amount indicated.

I am quite familiar with corn salad, we eat it often, but I've never heard
of anyone ever cooking it.  And around here, most salad greens are cooked,
but as vegtables, not in soups.
