Re: [CH] Sauces to restaurants

It should come as no surprise that I, too, carry sauces to eateries when
visiting. I make no show of it but inevitably the wait staff see it and
ask questions. Have had some interesting conversations but most run the
usual 'why, my -fill inthe blank- can eat jalapenos like they were
nothing!'. Most often they are interested in the powders & it has
occasionally resulted in a business relationship. Purely unintended, I
assure you ;-) Never has anyone been insulted. Being discreet, I
wouldn't hesitate to take one into any restaurant. Like Alex, places
that I frequent are usually happy to accomodate tastes that are slightly
different.

Spent this last weekend up in Lake Geneva (WI) & tried a place called
the Cactus Club. Didn't know if it was a chain or not but it had that
feel to it. Great decor, decent looking menu, good service, poor food.
If it wasn't for the big bottle of chipotle powder I brought in, their
'chipotle chicken breast' wouldn't have been salvagable. Only sauce in
the place was El Yuc. Only one heat level of salsa available, WAY too
heavy on the cilantro.

That's why I never hesitate to bring my own :-) If it stays in my
pocket- great! If not, it's covered.
