I generally try to explain why I like a sauce on a particular dish.  For
example:  Scorned Woman with Marinara sauce, the black pepper and acidity of
the vinegar blend well with the tomato, basil and oregano flavors.  Sriracha
with vegetable dishes -- the chiles and garlic enhance the fresh vegetable
flavor, or a good chipotle sauce brings out the smoked flavor of hams and
sausages, etc. 

BTW -- We're not crazy -- we just listen to the voices in our minds!  ;-)
